Chicken is quite popular in the United States. In fact, it is so popular that more people consume chicken in this country than anywhere else in the world. While 700 million pounds of chicken are usually purchased in the days leading up to the 4th of July holiday, it is obviously consumed throughout the year.
In 2015, for example, 90.1 pounds of chicken was consumed per capita in the United States. During 2016, the National Chicken Council projected that this amount would increase to 91.8 pounds. Given all the wonderful dishes that can prepared with chicken, such as Latin-flavored rotisserie chicken, it’s popularity is not surprising.
